About the Garhwal & Kumaon Himalayas
No other Himalayan ranges are as rich in myth and legend as those of the Garwhal and Kumaon, the western and eastern hills of Uttaranchal. Known as the Devi Bhoomi  ‘Abode of the Gods’ every peak, river and trail is either named after a Hindu god or goddess or finds mention in Holy scriptures. Easy to access nowadays, Garhwal and Kumaon are a wonderful introduction to the Himalayas.
A single walk can lead through forests & valleys bursting with wildflowers and stunning views of snow capped peaks and tucked away in the folds of the hills are many ancient temples and hill resorts from the erstwhile British Raj. A stay in a heritage home surrounded by cedars and crisp mountain air redolent with the scent of conifers and birdsong will surely uplift ones soul to the peace and serenity that these hills have offered  since time immemorial.
